I am translating a document of over 30 pages and Trados kept giving the "pure virtual function call" message and closing down every so often. I am translating a document of over 30 pages and Trados kept giving the "pure virtual function call" message and closing down every so often. Before it closed down I kept getting the error code -2146825037 displayed at the bottom of the Trados window - which I found out is a Microsoft code for some sort of database error.

I decided that, now I know the terminology by heart for this particular document (the umpteenth in a series of Court documents on a specialised topic), straight typing is just as fast as inserting all the words that Trados places red lines over, if it would cure the problem. I therefore went into "term recognition options" and "settings" and deactivated "Run terminology recognition in the background". I assumed that, by deactivating this, Trados would not be accessing my Multiterm termbases any more, and no words with red lines over the top would be available for insertion.

I did, however, quickly find out that all the words with red lines over the top from the termbases are still available for insertion, however the error messages are gone. What, then, is the function of having deactivated that automatic terminology recognition option?

Turning off Term recognition should do ... Jul 13, 2006

Hi Astrid:

"Virtual function call" rings a bell...

I would think that turning off the Options/Term Recognition check should be enough to decouple MultiTerm from the TWB.

Re red underlines, I have no idea...
