Hej, Since years I waist my time with not-working versions of Trados. Now I bought the new Trados Freelancer 7 and again nothing is working. I can't get any access to the MultiTerm-Server. I am working with Windows xp. Installation was successful, but although there is no way to get it run. I got always the note "Server settings are not configured properly". I even tryed with a specialist, but.. Does anyone have an idea, how I could make this program run??

Do you have access to a term server? Nov 2, 2005

Hi Annette,
Are you trying to connect to a central termbase (either on your LAN, or via the internet? If so, have you indicated the connection settings on Termbase - Termbase Connection?

Note that you don't need this for using local termbases.

Best regards,
Ralf

Hi Ralf, Nov 2, 2005

Yes I tried to connect a central termbase via Internet. I did not indicate the connection setings? How can I do this? I cannot find that.
Is it possible to download termbases from elsewhere? I heard about that.

Best regards,
Annette

Termbase Connection Nov 2, 2005

Hi Annette,

I don't know - that's why I asked...

How can I do this? I cannot find that.

Er... see above:

If someone provides you with a download, yes, but termbases aren't regularly available.

Just to avoid misunderstandings:

- Connecting to a central termbase means that you access a termbase that's provided within your company network, for example, or within a team structure using a VPN over the internet.
- This does not mean trying to search for online resources.

Best regards,
Ralf

Hi Annette,

just to understand your request properly:
a) do you have connection information for a MultiTerm server and can't connect to it or
b) are you generally interested in accessing external termbases and want to know what databases exist?

If it's a) then start MultiTerm, open the menu Termbases and select the command Termbase Connection.... There you will find a dialogue where you can enter the connection type which should be MultiTerm Anywhere if you try to access a database over the internet. You can also enter the address of a the MultiTerm server and a user name.

To connect to the server open the menu Termbases and select the command Log in.... Then a log in window opens where you have to provide a username and a password.

If it's b) then somebody else has to help you. :-\ I don't know any publicly accessible MultiTerm server.

Kind regards,

Ulrich
