Softwares needed to start working?

Recently, I started working for a DVD company which they get movie rights and send them over to cinemas and DVDs later. They were dealing with subtitling company but due to their delay in doing subtitles they approved me working for them. I found out that company were sending them subtitles in *.son format with *.bmp(s) format, so which softwares I do need to make this kinda format if i had too?
