Is there an online software to convert a scanned contract (an image) into text (.txt, .rtf or .doc)?
Thanks and best regards, AT

You can search on Internet Dec 6, 2010

You can search on Internet by using "Online OCR software." I hit it a lot. [I prefer not to write links on this forum.]

Reconsider Dec 6, 2010

You think submitting a contract to an unknown third party online is proper handling for confidential information ... interesting.

You can try Abbyy or use the Microsoft Office Tool called Microsoft Office Document Imaging which is included in Microsoft Office 2007.

OCR or Copy & Paste Dec 6, 2010

First try Copy and Paste. If the PDF file was created from an original text or DTP file (not a scanned image), this will work. Paste it on an MS Word document, or any other word processing/DTP software. You can also use almost any OCR software to convert it back to text that can be edited/modified.

If it is a scanned image, then you can only use OCR, and just pray that the image is of a very good quality.

Any hand written notations, lines, graphs, images, etc will not OCR correctly. You will find in their place a lot of 'noise'.

Good luck
