I generally do not comment on answers or responses. There is no difference on the suggestions provide by me and Naseeruddin. I had put \"chikitskiya\" in brackests, that signifies that you can take or leave that. I know \'langclinic\" is a good translator and he is certainly not looking for such a simple translation from us.
Anyway, my comment was on and I still have different opinion on ,\"...MTP which means legal abortion...\". meaning of MTP has nothing to do with legal proedures. It is an abortion done by medicos and that\'s it. It is legal or not, is not of a concern for us as a translator.
And, being a member of ProZ since its inception, I know that the KudoZ was started to help and get help. And, those who answer can always give their opinion for others suggestions also. At the end of day, the asker should get the best suggestion.

Comment: "Thanks to all of you for helping me in connection with this query. In fact, these terms i.e. miscarriage/abortion/medical termination of pregnancy seem synonymous but there is a subtle difference among these. Therefore, I had no other option but to ask this question in English(Monolingual) Category as well in order to ascertain the views of native speakers in respect of these technical terms. The question is available at:
http://www.proz.com/kudoz/802997?float=1
You may like to refer to the same if you want to have an insight into the concepts of these confusing terms.
And I feel that it would be desirable rather imperative to add "chikitsiye' for MTP because the abortion is being arranged with the help of physicians.
I thank all of you for your valuable input."

Garbhpaat
Medical Termination of Pregnancy is called MTP which means legal abortion on the suggestion of a doctor, done by a qualified doctor or if both hunsband and wife are agree for the abortion.
I think "Garbhpaat" is suitable here that covers the wider meaning and also as per the context.
However, we can also say it "Chikitsiye Garbhpaat" but it will look awkward then.

: IMHO, MTP has nothing to do with Legal aspect. May be if you are looking to that in Indian context, there is a legal angle. But, we don't know if translation is intended for Indian audience. This translation could be meant for USA or UK.

Yes, you are right. In any case, MTP is little different from abortion whether it is US or UK. Only MTP is used in medical context. Well.. this might bring a controversy here so better to end up. That's the only reason I have put 'Garbhpaat' only.

: well grbhapaat itself conveys the meaning of the termination or removal of pregnency so, in my opinion grbhapaat is enoug, no need to be controversy

Just a different view. As I understand, the word "grabhpaat" is more towards meaning where pregnancy terminated naturally. Whereas by doing it medically means killing it. I have used the word "samapti" instead of "naas" since it is more positive.

In Place of \"samapti\", \"samapan\" may also be used.

I am not disagreeing with Anil’s main answer. I disagree with his comments on Naseer’s answer. If Anil felt that MTP is not connected with legalities, it would have been nice if he added his note to his own answer. Coming back to the question of termination of pregnancy: Pregnancy gets terminated either by miscarriage or by abortion. Both can occur without medical intervention. If you see the meanings of these two words, you will note that Miscarriage never happens due to Medical intervention. On the other hand Abortion can happen with or without Medical intervention. Clearly, this shows that Medically Terminated Pregnancies are at the intervention of a Medical person, like a Doctor. MEDICALLY Terminated Pregnancy involves a Doctor who terminates a pregnancy, killing a live fetus by external interference. THAT IS DEFINITELY AN ETHICAL & LEGAL ISSUE!
