Si bien todas las definiciones que se han dado son correctas en el contexto de la traducción del currículo/perfil de una persona creo que queda extraño decir orador/ponente principal/de apertura por lo que me inclino más por las opciones que indican que es un orador destacado/ de orden y por eso ofrezco otra opción de este tipo

Considero que "principal" o "de apertura" estaría perfecto en el contexto de un congreso o una ceremonia, pero no en este caso.

This is what comes to mind - I coincide with Eski over ponente, which is the term used in Spain, afaik, and the keynote speaker speaks at the plenary.

Aunque mi sugerencia de traducción se aleja bastante (o mucho) de las sugeridas por los compañeros, el amigo Mike (véase infra) me ha convencido de que el componente motivacional es el que predomina en la actividad y el contacto con la audiencia del “keynote speaker”.

Este tipo de oradores es un fenómeno, me atrevo a decir abiertamente, muy característico de la cultura estadounidense, y en todo tipo de foros, también en el ámbito eclesiástico. En Europa su actividad resultaría “chocante” (somos en general más serios que ellos).

Motivational speakers in demand should lay emphasis on people
People care is extremely important to messages of regularly booked motivational speakers. Yes, results as well, but not at the expense of the wellness of its employees. Añado, por último, que a mi modo de ver el componente motivacional es la base de la actividad de este tipo de orador, pero comprende también la faceta de investigación de contenidos y audiencias, y se vale de recursos como "humor, audience participation, show funny clips, or even sing", como indica el enlace. Creo que en español "orador motivacional" sería la equivalencia más apropiada, pese a que Mike nos aclara que no se trata solo de motivación.
