Source text - Spanish Los puntos mas críticos de debate son los que se refieren a la expresión del strengh de los medicamentos inyectables. Muchos paises opinan que en las parenteral liquid preparations la expresión del strengh en el nombre debe hacerse mediante la cantidad total por volumen total, en lugar de mediante la concentración, ya que así en primer lugar se evitan errores de dosificación que pueden ocurrir al confundirse la concentración por la cantidad total. También de esta manera es posible identificar y diferenciar correctamente los medicamentos que tengan presentaciones con distintas cantidades totales pero la misma concentración (circunstancia muy habitual).
Esta es la postura que el ISMP-España sostiene y defendió en el workshop, dado que en España los errores que tenemos tenemos registrados a traves del sistema de notificación tienen su causa en la utilización de la concentración para expresar la concentración de estos productos.

I was born in Kentucky in 1952. When I was 3, my family moved to Indiana and I grew up and attended school in Mt. Vernon, IN, graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1970. I attended Purdue University and graduated cum laude in 1974 with a BS degree- with major in Consumer & Family Science and a minor in Spanish. In 1977, I earned an MAT degree, also at Purdue, in Spanish education. In 1987 I completed the coursework for a doctorate in medieval Spanish literature at the University of Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain. And finally, in 2010 I completed a licensure program for school counseling at the University of the Southwest.
I married in 1974 and we moved from West Lafayette, IN to Erie, PA. Our daughter was born in 1978. In Erie, I taught at Saegertown School District and the Erie School District. I also did some writing and had several articles published (Better Homes & Gardens, The Erie Magazine).
When my husband died in 1985 my life changed. I accepted a teaching job at Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO. I taught Spanish there for one year and also started on a doctoral program at the University of Missouri. By the end of the year I had decided to spend a year in Spain doing coursework for the doctorate.
Again, the winds of change blew for me. After spending a year in Spain, I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to stay on long enough to not feel as if I had only passed through. I wanted to make it mine. That first summer (1987) I began working for the University of Salamanca teaching English as a Foreign Language through Cursos Internacionales and accepting freelance translation jobs.
That year I met a lovely man, Primitivo Martín Sánchez. Eventually we married. Later, he adopted my daughter, Jane, and we became a family. I now have dual citizenship, American/Spanish.
During these years I continued to teach EFL at the university and privately. In addition, I was assistant program director for Randolph Macon College’s study abroad program in Salamanca, and eventually taught a one-credit course for them on current Spanish culture and politics (a course I conceived and proposed).
At the same time, I worked part-time, but consistently, as a freelance translator for numerous entities and companies (museums, university departments, international conferences, state financial institutions, etc). Since 1995, I have been the official translator for the Spanish delegation of the Institute for Safe Medication Practices.
In 2003 I accepted a Spanish teaching position in Peru IN, USA. I taught there until the end of 2011 when my husband's health worsened and we went back definitively to Spain. After he died, in Nov. of 2011, I came to live in the US to be near my family.
During all of these years, since 1986, I have enjoyed complementing my teaching career by working as a freelance translator. At this point, I am not teaching but devote my time exclusively to translating.
