Swedish term

Fäste (waxing context)

Swedish to English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation Skiing/Ski waxing
När du lägger fäste är det bättre att lägga 3-5 tunna lager än ett tjockt.

Something like a grip layer?

Seems right The reference equates kick wax and grip wax as synonyms in one section and then has kick wax as a kind of grip wax in another
Plamen Nenchev (asker) Sep 19, 2013:
Actually, by rummaging through through my client's other documents, I managed to find out they're calling this "kick wax" - although yet another separate term is used for kick wax! Your answer should however be correct.

Another look at the reading says this answer should be 'grip wax.'
Unless this applies to klister -- where you do lay a 'base layer', but that doesn't seem to match your context.
