considerações

Portuguese to English Medical Medical (general)
It's the title of the article/study.

"Considerações sobre o [drug name]"

'Considerations on' or 'considerations on the use of' just doesn't sound right to me.

Definition of "Consideração" according to Houaiss:
1. exame detido e refletido

Myabe just 'study on'?

Thanks.

Enza, this is what I have:

"Considerações sobre o [drug name]
Os autores apresentam uma revisão sobre a neurotoxicidade do [drug name] e seus aspectos históricos em outros países. Concluem que não há indicação para o uso desta droga na atualidade.

[sub-headings]
histórico do uso mundial
neurotoxicidade
o que dizem os livros
tratamento das diarréias agudas

Thanks.

Enza Longo Mar 1, 2006:
Is this the title of the entire article? If so, could you provide some of the sub-headings?

about [drug name]

For the title of an article, I think "About [Vioxx]" is all you need. This is exactly what "considerações sobre" means in this particular case. If the author had wanted to convey the concept of a detailed scientific study or analysis, he/she would have surely used a different word in Portuguese.

Hope this helps and good luck!

"On the drug name"

I'd skip the noun and go straight to the object: "on the drug name". This formula is much used in scientific papers.

This example is not a title, but starts with the expression:

On the drug name topic, it still blows my mind that there is actually a drug now named Soma, and it's a muscle relaxant. That just kills me. ...

considerations

I'd use considerations (on).

HOUAISS também diz que CONSIDERAÇÃO = observações feitas após um exame ou reflexão.

Preamble

This is the usual translation and how I've translated similar context

of course "Preamble" would be for the title or heading. As for the rest, probably "information on (drug name)

after looking at your additional context, I would be inclined to translate it as "Facts on [drug name]"

On second thought, "Analysis" would probably be better, i.e. "an analysis of..."

Overview (general / comprehensive..)

This is where a translator reads the article and decides on a descriptive tile...

Drugname: an overview
or Comprehensive/General/ Overview of Drugname
(are they doing a comprehensive or just a general overview?)
or...
review and evaluation. review and assessment.. or Drugname: a review

I think this might fit your context... and it is also one of the English equivalents for considerações found in dictionaries
