Portuguese term

área de borda da cultura

Portuguese to English Science Agriculture
This is a study on the effects of pesticides on non-target organisms. "Aplicação" refers to pesticide application. This part describes the tests that were carried out under semi-field conditions.

As abelhas permaneceram a 30m da aplicação, simulando uma área de borda da cultura por 24h.

I have to say that the last part of this sentence sounds weird to me (I think "por 24h" is kind of lost in the sentence - there should be a better place for it, IMO).

Thank you for your attention!

Possivelmente o Matheus terá de jogar com as palavras para dar a noção de "fora do perímetro",

simulating a rim just outside the crop perimeter....

qualquer coisa assim!
Example sentence:

Colonization of the crop is almost immediate, and the population density in any part of the field is probably independent of its distance from the crop perimeter.

This project tested a chemical-free approach that combined a sunflower trap crop perimeter with commercially available pheromone traps

[forming] a border around the cultivated area/crops

I realize that "cultura" isn't usually translated as 'crops', but I think this is what the author means.
