hazardous area
Hazardous Areas are classified into three "Zones". The Standard EN 60079-10 provides guidance for classification of areas in which an explosive atmosphere may exist.
These Zones are defines as follows:
Zone 0 An area where an explosive atmosphere is present continuously of for long periods.
Zone 1 An area where an explosive atmosphere is likely to to occur in normal operation.
Zone 2 An area where an explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation
Für den Geschäftsbericht taugt hazardous area als Obergriff allemale. :-)

You don\'t need to know about these zones. They don\'t have to appear in your translation, I just wanted to show that \'hazardous area\' is the standard term. I don\'t know how \"bei Gefahr\" appears in your text, but I don\'t think there is a risk of confusion in using \'harzardous area\'. I thought in this case, a more fact-based approach was more appropriate than my low temperature coffe maker. If you\'d like, I could mention Zone -1 - it\'s so explosive that it disappeared before scientist could prove it existed...

: Too vague. The reference is specifically to danger of explosions, not just hazards in general.

: only without refererence to an area. 'Hazardous area' is the standardized term (EN 60079-10).

: I think Fantutti has got it. Explosionsgefaehrdet is also sometimes referred to as a potentialy explosive atmosphere or area (I don't have my Siemens dictinoary handy, but I think that's what they give). http://www.xmatic.com/tranzmatic/index.htm

Protection for areas with high explosion risk
not 'of high'
Peer comment(s):

Richard Benham
: "of" is as good. "in areas" is better than "for". "at risk of explosion" is also better. Why "high" anyway?

my typos are inventive, too :-)
