None of the options I know from our German-English patentese catalog or can come up with works in connection with "Trichterform". It sounds almost a bit like the German was off because "aufspannen" coming straight from the patent horse's mouth usually "occurs" in the air directly hovering over an area.

"Circumscribed by" then? What do you guys think?

Consider 'funnel mo/u/ld' rather than shape for the 'mounting'.
