German term

Lötmeter

With Hazmat If you do a quick search on Lötmeter, you will find lots of references and they all seem to address the seam or joint length that you can solder with this.
hazmatgerman (X) Jul 29, 2009:
@Walter: 2.500 'cause Lam mentioned it in her question. Regards.

Oliver Walter Jul 29, 2009:
Yes That seems right to me - you should post an answer and earn some points (if Christine accepts it). Why 2500? Perhaps that's the expected life of the Lötkolben.
hazmatgerman (X) Jul 29, 2009:
Ich verstehe das als 2.500 lfd. Meter Lötnaht. Also 2,500 m of solder(ing) joint. Gruß

Ich glaube, es gibt kein solches Wort auf Englisch und möchte es wie folgt formulieren:

No need to file and hammer the soldering iron for 2500 meters of used up solder wire.

Ich hoffe es hilft.
Grüße

neutral hazmatgerman (X) : An interpretation as "material used" does not appear likely as the focus is on the tool rather than the consumables. Regards.//But that's what you say "for 2500 meters of used up".

exactly that! It means that the tool does not need any "maintenance" up to a certain point. Like the tires that need to be changed only after some thousands of km. My focus is not on the wire, but on the tool, instead.
