neutral British Diana : Perhaps unnecessary to introduce a metapher from a quite different field. It does indeed fit the context, I just think it is unnecessarily complex (I think this is International English)

Hi Diana; that phrase is fine in many contexts unless you disagree with that interpretation of the sentence, of course. I.m.o., it's a good fit for the second possible meaning, Lisa noted above.
