Solution? Not sure of myself at all here, but from the context it sounds like they're talking about the "limits" of the "solution", (i.e. "Auflösung" in the sense of "Lösung"), meaning if the costs of recording consumption, etc, exceed the benefit obtained in return, then actually doing the recording ceases to be a solution any longer: you've reached the limit. Of course, I could be barking up entirely the wrong tree...
