Yes, sorry about the lack of context Tatjana - unfortunately there really is no more context to give. I think there seems to be a consensus on what a BMG probably is though (backed up by you) which is a relief
Tatjana Dujmic May 20, 2010:
Possibly... "Betriebsmittel" could mean "tools & equipment" or "manufacturing resources". So maybe the "Betriebsmittelgesellschaft" is merely a company that produces equipment or the like for the other group companies? However, without proper context with regard to how the different "...gesellschaften" are defined, it is rather difficult...
Charles Stanford (asker) May 17, 2010:
That is all the context there is - translation in note form....
casper (X) May 17, 2010:
@ Charles Stanford Could we have more source text and context, please? Thank you.

manufacturing company

Without more context, this is difficult one. I would have said 'production company', but today this of course refers to a film producing company. Jennifer's answer sounds good, but seems to be more commonly used for heavy industry/mining companies. If this is the case in your text, then that would be the way to go, but if not, then maybe a term that implies manufacturing or processing is preferable.

There are increasingly a number of resources companies who are listing on foreign stock exchanges as either a primary or secondary listing.
This article explores the relative merits of a resources company listing in Australia, which has one of the oldest and most established exchanges for the listing of resources companies in Asia versus Hong Kong, which has not had the same history of listing resources companies. It looks at the issues from the perspective of a resources company that is either incorporated in Australia or Hong Kong or in neither of them.

Two references in German suggesting that "Betriebsmittel" means equipment / machinery / tools / patent etc., yet nothing that is directly included in the product

disagree Peter Manda (X) : you have no evidence that 'Betriebsmittel' doesn't mean consumer goods

Do you have a reference that it means consumer goods?
