German term
Aufsatzschale
German to English
Art/Literary
Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
objet d'art
Hopefully not such a stupid question this time:
again a title of a painting from an auction catalogue:
Stillleben mit Blumen, einer Aufsatzschale mit Gläsern und Likörflaschen, einem Eisbehälter, Porzellantassen, Blutwurst und Brotkorb auf einem roten Teppich
Elsewhere I have translated Tafelaufsatz as centrepiece so would prefer not to use that again. I understand this to be a decorative shallow bowl on a detachable stand/stem, but I am having another mental block about the EN term for this. Any help gratefully received.

Note from asker:
Thank you, Georgina, unfortunately I've not seen the bowl either but I like this variant. |
4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Thanks to you all for the help; I am going to go with Georgina's answer because it most sounds as if the base/stand could be detachable - in the other cases the stand is integral. Without seeing the object I cannot be sure, but have made a note of all the answers for future ref."

: China is outside my field, but the footed bowl at bloomingdales.weddingchannel.com/registry/catalog/Classic+11%22+Footed+Bowl/ID/807/PID/74288 resembles various Aufsatzschalen online...

Standing bowl
Have a look in ebay - you'll see photos of both "Aufsatzschalen" (ebay.at) and "standing bowls" (ebay.co.uk)
Note from asker:
I have seen those and think they are probably poor translations unfortunately. I am looking for the correct decorative art term. |

: There seem to be various names for the same beast: "standing bowl" (http://www.vandaimages.com/results.asp?cat1=Bowls&X8=6-02)
