English term

proactive learning citizens

English to Greek Other Journalism
The main findings of CEDEFOP’s (2003) report on the views of EU citizens on LLL showed that (a) the majority of people in most countries register a gap for ‘new’ skills; (b) those with lower levels of education are most likely to say that they neither possess nor do they see these skills as useful in their lives; (c) learning context preferences distinguish clearly between active learners and detached learners; (d) respondents with high levels of education and holding high-status jobs are the most ***proactive learning citizens***; (e) more than half of EU citizens had taken up recent learning because they had been advised or requested to do so; and (f) de-motivated learners are those who consistently report that they simply do not want to take up learning of any kind.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

"The term “proactive learner” has been used to describe a student who has skills of metacognition or skills of learning
how to learn and can apply or transfer them to appropriate situations."

http://www.bssc.edu.au/public/learning_teaching/tutor/files/...

"Proactive learning occurs when managers absorb knowledge from the world around them. They attempt to discern causal relationships prior to acting. Examples include environmental scanning, business feasibility studies, and computer simulations. "

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m4256/is_n6_v22/ai_190...

Respondents with high levels of education and holding high-status jobs are the most **proactive learning citizens**: they seek information from a wide range of sources, they take part in different kinds of learning, and they are most likely to recognise that they have recently learned in a range of settings.
