History
"The "cothon", a sort of basin which an artificial canal joined to the sea. It was probably used as a dry dock or as a cultural site where religious rites were performed. It is surrounded by a wall and paved with tuff ashlars."

Η λέξη κώθων χρησιμοποιείται για τους τεχνητούς λιμένες. Στην περίπτωσή σου νομίζω πως πρέπει να αφήσεις τον όρο μεταφρασμένο στα Ελληνικά. Η λέξη ΚΩΘΩΝ αρχικά αντιπροσώπευε ένα είδος κύπελου από την Σπάρτη για κρασί και ακριβώς επειδή το σχήμα του τεχνητού λιμένα έχει το ίδιο σχήμα γιαυτό ονομάστηκε και αυτός ΚΩΘΩΝ.
