When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Adrian MM. Oct 19, 2021:
@ Daryo - intrusive vs. intimate No need to guess when the asker appears to be albeit a non-native on the Philippines and my two example sentences draw a distinction.
Daryo Oct 19, 2021:
@ Adrian MM you are right to make the distinction. But so far, there is so little context (none in fact) that we can only keep guessing.
Adrian MM. Oct 19, 2021:
an intrusive property vs. intimate personal search Do not confuse.
Daryo Oct 18, 2021:
@ Masoud Kakoli what qualifies as "intrusive search by police" depends on too many factors to give you one answer.

WHERE is this term used? In a law? Of which country? IOW does the law says that some "searches" are deemed to be "intrusive" or is someone complaining that they have been subjected to a search that they perceive as being "intrusive"?

Some people will start screaming that they are subjected to "intrusive search" even if police opens their wallet - it can be very subjective.

Even if some searches are defined by local laws as "intrusive" the meaning could be quite varied from one country to another.

Searches done on suspected drug mules are for sure "intrusive", whichever way you stretch the meaning of "intrusive" ...

More context?

intrusive search

The definition of 'intrusive search' varies from one jurisdiction to another. In some, it may include a 'strip search' (the person is required to remove all clothing), and/or a 'body cavity search' (anus, vagina, digestive system, ...)

A Google search for "intrusive search" meaning brings up over 3 million hits.
Somewhere in there you will probably find details relevant to the jurisdiction applying to your ST.

Precisely! And that's why I suggested Asker should do his own research and find the facts that fit his context :)
neutral Daryo : in actual fact your "explanation" doesn't explain anything - it's like saying "a square is square"

neutral Adrian MM. : You have conflated an intrusive with an intimate search. I have sued for both in London : intrusive search of a woman suspect's handbag by security guards: trespass to goods and intimate strip search attended by the police: trespass to the person.

non-intimate e.g. of a vehicle

Not on the Philippines of the asker's country shown and that has a part Anglo-American, part Spanish-law based system, but a - tough - Bar Exam set in English. In England and Wales, 'intimate searches' by the police are governed by PACE: the UK Police and Crminal Evidence Act 1984.
Example sentence:

Philippines — An intrusive, warrantless search of a moving vehicle based merely on an anonymous tip is invalid

Church official condemns strip search in Philippine prison - Visitors to the country's jails undergo are stripped naked, subjected to an *intimate* search.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Jennifer Levey : "An intrusive search of a moving vehicle." Hmmm... Can you show us a dash-cam video of how that's done?

Please read the first example sentence from the Philippines *carefully* https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2020/08/18/2036239/sc-int... There is also a difference there with intimate search
neutral Daryo : "intrusive search of a vehicle" is just ONE example, and not really the most representative one.

Intrusive on the Phillipines squares with Anglo-Am law and could include search of a woman suspect's handbag - trespass to goods - vs. an intimate strip search - trespass to the person. I have issued a writ in London combining both heads of claim in tort.
