double-check? With Wendy... after looking into the mirror, you double check by looking back over your shoulder not to miss anything... so maybe double-check is sufficient in this context?

@ Birgit: double-check finde ich gut.

Over the shoulder (online or in-person) Over the shoulder presentations are a common way to give an online learning presentation. The viewer is literally looking over the presenters shoulder in order to follow, e.g. steps taken on a computer. I think this would fit here, either if the client is present and looking over the designer's shoulder, or following the design process or alternatives online.

shoulder check is a US English phrase for looking of your should when driving but is not appropriate as I think this is talking about looking over someone else's shoulder to see what they are doing

Shadowing is not a peer-to-peer relationship. Second opinions do not necessitate a screen huddle.

Is X a colleague or the client? If the latter, the session is about presentation.

"Die Agentur bittet Ertl in ihr Atelier und zeigt ihm erste Logo-Entwürfe. Diesen Kontakt nennt man in der Branche 'Schulterblick.' Bei einem Schulterblick sollte der Auftraggeber immer daran denken, dass er mit seinen spontanen Reaktionen konstruktive Hinweise gibt, aber nicht einengt und zensiert."

Re "equivalent term in English" (i.e. something involving parts of the body):
heads-up?
Note from asker:
That is very useful. Yes, X is the client. So maybe a collaborative review would be the best solution. It would seem to be a know term in German, is there no equivalent term in English?
Peer comment(s):

agree Björn Vrooman : Cf https://ericamedia.de/design/wireframing/ and https://www.experienceux.co.uk/faqs/what-is-wireframing/ Schulterblick is mentioned, as is review (also like present, though). In short, this has little to do with actually looking over someone's shoulder.

shadowing / second opinion

Shadowing is a term used for when you are looking to see what someone else is doing and how they are doing it so that you can do the same or learn how to do the same as they are doing. The term is often used in business when a new person has to learn from a more experienced person.

Another option is "second opinion" but not sure if that works here?
