Introductory Essay To A Book
Contexto:
Gracias,
Barbara

whose desire/wish is that readers ... / who hopes that readers..
I think this is a natural way of expressing it.

who hopes
The original is wordy enough, so a bit of streamlining could be in order.

: Yes, a bit wordy for English readers

: Literally it would be something like "whose hope is pinned/concentrated on", but I think it's much better to cut it down to this.

whose hope is encrypted/encoded
it would be a shame to truncate and lose the literary imagery of the author's hope encrypted into messages that she hopes the readers will capture those messages and assimilate the concepts which they (the messages) enclose (hide).
Also I don't think it will be possible to finish the translation without the key element of the encryption/encoding as it will leave a gap of meaning which is directly attached to the end concept.

who trusts his readers to ...
Hope is abstract, you cannot encrypt or encode it. My suggestion is an attempt at preserving the litterary twist while remaining concise.
