If you need to differentiate between the two you could use "elderly care centres and elderly care homes".

Senior center or senior residence

But for USA. We no longer use terms such as "elderly" or "old people", we call them (or they call us, since I qualify for that group) "seniors" or "senior citizens". However, it does not necessary follow that they always treat us with due respect.
