German to English Marketing Environment & Ecology
This is a special award granted by the German Sustainability Award Foundation (Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V.), and unfortunately their website doesn't provide a translation, nor have I found any other English version online. I'm having a tough time coming up with something that's not too unwieldy - any creative input out there?

Here is my original context:

Die Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. zeichnete Unternehmensgruppe X für ihren vorbildlichen Einsatz von Recyclingpapier [...] mit dem Sonderpreis „Deutschlands recyclingpapierfreundlichstes Unternehmen“ aus.

Interesting - to me "pioneer" has more of the connotation of "one among many", whereas "leader" more clearly denotes one who is ahead of the rest. But I will keep both in mind, my deadline isn't until Monday so I can keep tweaking...
