Giuseppe Bellone Jul 16, 2009:
Fran Cesca Jul 16, 2009:
cremino Ma il gelato o il cioccolatino? :)

cremino

"cremino al sale (gianduia/hazelnut cream chocolate with sea salt)"

Cremino is a very specific type of chocolate in Italy (made for example by FIAT and Majani in Bologna), so I wouldn't translate it; you may want to add an explanation in English in brackets.

"Fudge is a type of confectionery which is usually very sweet, extremely rich and sometimes flavoured with cocoa. It is made by mixing sugar, butter, and milk and heating it to the soft-ball stage at 240 °F (116 °C), and then beating the mixture while it cools so that it acquires a smooth, creamy consistency. "

Example sentence:

The house specialty is the cremino with salt made of gianduja, sea salt and extra virgin olive oil.

agree Chiara Arepalli : I would also leave it like this adding in brackets that it's a chocolate fudge

Thanks :-) But the term fudge is not correct (see note) - it refers to a different product.
agree Marianna Tucci

agree Cinzia Montina : io lo lascerei in italiano, magari con spiegazione
1 day 4 hrs
agree Nicola (Mr.) Nobili : I know I am abismally late, I just wanted to mention that "Fiat" is a type of chocolate by Majani, rather than a separate brand.

chocolate fudge (with salt)

Just need to find out if 'al sale' literally means with salt for the recipe. Anyway, it should be fudge. See link below

neutral Fiona Grace Peterson : Cremino is not fudge - they are two different things.
