A friend of mine wants to attribute a translation to an unknown translator, in Latin; in other words, after quoting after the translated passage it would say, in Latin, "Unknown translator".

: Correct but a poetic word, found only in Horace in classical Latin.

But as verb is found in Cicero and Pliny. It could be a neologism in his time, but some time later perfectly usable, still in the Latin world.
