the word used in the Coran is خمار I think it's a good suggestion. It is not related to a particular part of the body, and the word خمر derives from it, because it veils the mind.

: I agree,but the concept of veil is not just Islamic,as we nun wear it,and in particular certain non islamic religiouse sects,like the mormons, an orthodox christian sect in Malta, and amongst certainn sections of hindus too.

: the text says that she drew the veil "closer about her face" - I don't understand this to mean a face veil at all. Rather, I understand it to mean that she drew the edges of her head veil closer around or over her face - maybe out of shyness, fear,etc.

: i just watched Dr. Phil on Mbc4 about veil and its known for them that veil is that cover whatever was for just hair or the whole face. and that sentence means اتكأت الي الوراء وقربت الحجاب (الوشاح) الي وجهها
