top-flight / -grade / -ranking private school
I think 'top-flight' might be a slightly more acceptable register for this context.
If not, you might want to consider the other 2 options — 'top-ranking' might be stretching it a bit far (after all, it could be a very posh, expensive school, but be way down in the ranking tables!), but I think would be generally acceptable in the context.
Just a thought: depending on whether this is a primary- or secondary-level 'school', you might want to consider 'college' as having a bit more cachet to it (cf. Wellington College, Eton College, etc.)

It was meant to be 'top-ranking', I don't think you can use 'high-ranking' as that suggest some kind of militray or official rank.

Julie Barber
: I don't agree with rank or grade (as per your own note!) because it suggests good grades, whereas it might not be true and 'haut de gamme' reads like a luxury product rather than a school

Thanks, Julie! I think one could get away with it using 'top-', but I agree that 'high-' wouldn't work

: Could be good, but this might be 'haut de gamme' but without having the 'prestige' of one of the 'big name' public schools, for example / Actually, I'd prefer 'prestige...'

high-ranking private school
It must be a school having high quality of teaching and reputation

: Yes, but as I said in my own note, I don't think it is wise to put 'high' with 'ranking' here, because of other connotations...

: Yes, but I would have severe doubts as to the appropriateness of this register in a professional CV context? / I don't agree, except perhaps for 'top-flight'

acclaimed training centre
Seems that we're talking about a training centre more than a school.

upscale private school
Another idea for the pot, although I'm not sure whether that works for British Eng.

The turning point, according to Atkinson [the President of the University of California], was a trip to an upscale private school, where he learned "that they spend hours each month -- directly and indirectly -- preparing for the SAT."
