Hi Everyone

I'm working on technical manuals in InDesign. I've never worked with Arabic text before.
We got a document back from our translation agency and our distributor (who's Arabic) went through the text that were put in a final layout. He found a few mistakes, mainly where letters seem separated. I see the difference between what he sent in his email and what's in the document itself, but if I copy the text from outlook to InDesign, it turns out to be the same as it was before: separated. I have World Tools (ME) add-in, and the text is set in Myriad Arabic. Do you know how to fix this?

Here are a picture about the problematic parts:

And here's another one. In the English text another line's setting is like this:

Regarding the distributor it's not right in Arabic:

Is it right? Because for me it seems the arrangement of the text is the same.

Many many thanks for your help in advance.

Hello Zeanut,

If you are using the Middle Eastern version of InDesign, and the Arabic text is separated:

- Select the Text or select the Text frame,

- Go to the Type menu,

- Click on "Apply Adobe World Ready Composers!"

This will solve the issue of separated Arabic text.

Though, of course, you must have an Arabic font used for the text.

Good luck,

Sameh

Thanks! Jan 24, 2014

Thanks for the help from both of you!

Apparently it seems that it goes wrong when I export a PDF from InDesign and I made those screenshots in InDesign. I'm still looking for a solution.

Thanks again! Arabic is a tricky language, I got really interested in it while I'd been working with it.

Zita
