Greetings and salutations!

My name is Aedan Zarrella and I'm a freelance translator (sole proprietorship) living in Finland. I'm originally from Chicago, but moved to Finland in 1989 to teach English to businesspeople.

I started my 'career' as a translator in 1997 while studying at Åbo Akademi University and have been doing it ever since. My first forays into the world of translation were through various translation agencies, but I eventually bit the bullet and struck out on my own as a sole proprietor. I have done translations for everything and everyone from major academic institutions, government and corporations to private persons and small organisations.

Even though my personal interests and studies lean more toward the 'soft' sciences--comparative religions, fine and applied arts, art history, literature and music--most of my translation work has been in business, industry and science. Being something of a linguistic masochist, I actually get a kick out of translating legal documents and contracts. There's something very appealing about the precision and care necessary in legal texts.
