The English language has been omnipresent in my life ever since I was born. At that time my father was an English teacher in several High Schools. After a few years he got involved with technical translations and, eventually, took on as a full-time freelance translator. So I grew up watching him teach English to other kids and, naturally, I absorbed everything by my own. At the age of 5 I was already speaking perfectly fluent.
I started translating in 2007, in partnership with my father who, at that time, was already an incredibly brilliant, 35-year career linguist working for major worldwide agencies.
Throughout the years he trained me down to the smallest details with active feedback on technical materials from a wide range of clients and applications, mainly Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Chemical, Medical Devices), Automotive (Porsche, Jaguar Land Rover and General Motors, among others) and Energy Generation Technologies (Drives, Turbines, Gas & Oil). He kept this knowledge transfer going until his very recent passing, may his soul rest in peace.
Luckily it was more than enough time to be able to follow his steps, and today I am proud to be considered a high-class professional linguist by my clients. During my entire career I have translated around 15 million words. Currently, my main final clients are Jaguar Land Rover (1 year, 210k words), Porsche (8 years, 2,2 million words) and Danfoss (8 years, 3,1 million words including glossary and terminology compilation and review).
I own and have extensive knowledge on Trados 2007 and Studio, but also work with other CAT tools for many years.
I never take a job with a deadline I can't comply, so I ensure all my deliveries are on time but, in most cases, I deliver far ahead of the final deadline.
Quality is a main concern for me and I continuously invest in my professional growth by seeking out to participate in conferences, webinars and training courses entailing several subjects. Currently I'm on my way to be a graduate student of English Linguistics by the State University of Londrina (Paraná, Brazil), ranked as the sixth best Brazilian university college (QS World University Ranking).
I actively use, maintain and compile personal glossaries for each client as I work with them, ensuring a consistent terminology identity over longer terms. Also I am an excellent team player, eager to provide, absorb and implement feedback and work together to accomplish outstanding results to drive the entire organization forward.
Please contact me in case you are interested in my services, I am sure we can start a mutually beneficial professional relationship.
My best regards,
Letícia M. de Almeida
