Ticked "Retain Studio target comments in target file" but they are not retained

I've got "Retain Studio target comments in target file" ticked for Word documents, latest Trados Studio 2021 SR1 16.1.8.4404 installed, laptop restarted so should all be working, but the comments still don't appear in the target .docx.
I had Office 365 installed and have switched to Office 2019; don't know if that makes a difference. Had this problem before too and was hoping that using Office 2019 would fix it. Any tips?

Make sure that you check the correct box Jul 19, 2021

There are two places for this setting: Options (for future projects) and Project Settings (for your active project). You need the latter. Make sure that you check this option for 'Microsoft Word 2007-2019' in Project Settings. Also, once you have changed any settings in a current project, they will not apply to the files that are already there. You need to re-import your files. You can do it by deleting the existing files then dragging and dropping same files again, then run the 'Prepare without... See more
