Hi,
I did a couple of jobs for an agency in Israel in August and, although my invoice fell due on the 30th September (indicated on my invoice), I have not been paid yet.
They have paid me before, although a reminder was necessary. And they have a 4.3 rate on the Blue Board.

How can I check if the company has gone out of business? Do you know debt collecting agencies in Israel?
Thank you,

Perhaps you could try to find out whether they have a website. Maybe they have other contact details on it.
I don't know much about collecting agencies, only that it's not worthwhile to make use of one unless it's a really big amount of money your client owes you.
Good luck!

So I am a little reluctant to let go. If I could get half of that money from a debt collecting agency, that would already be something.
I have already tried the other contact details on the Website: my email bounced back and no-one picks up the phone.

If they have gone out of business, their local Chamber of Commerce should know.
I must admit, a Blue Board rating of 4.3 looks very trustworthy.
If you are going to use a debt collecting agency, I recommend you use one that has offices in your country as well as in Israel. Googling 'Israel France debt' results in a lot of political stuff, but also a few debt collecting agencies. Don't know if it's allowed to post links here, and anyway, I've never made use of any of the... See more If they have gone out of business, their local Chamber of Commerce should know.

Go for it! For $ 731, I would soure give it a try. Good luck! ▲ Collapse | |

Give them a bit more time. | Oct 15, 2007 |
Dear Laure,
I can understand your frustration, especially because they are not replying to your emails. That might have different reasons, though.
The bill fell due at the end of September. I assume that you have a net 30 days policy.
In Israel they usually work on a 45 days schedule so I am imagining that you might get paid shortly. I have several clients in Israel who pay after 45-50 days without problems. In fact these clients are very reliable and long-te... See more Dear Laure,

Why don't you wait a couple of days to a week or so . There is no need for you to lose money to a collection agency if you can get paid in full a bit later.
And you said that they had a good record on the BB. Have you checked if the problem folks have is that they take a bit longer to pay. Maybe that is the reason that they do not have a 5.
If you still get no satisfaction, then take out the big gun and work with a collection agency.
I hope that this helps.
Good luck!

Hi Laure
I'd definately persist as long as possible, and aim to get the full amount or close to it. Any debt collecting agency will charge a percentage, but it shouldn't be that big. Do you know any other translators who work with them, who may be able to advise?
As an agency, we sometimes have problems receiving payment from end clients, perceverence always pays off eventually.
Hope this helps.

The Israeli agency I frequently work for (top BB record and very reliable customer indeed) have a strict rule - all August invoices, whether 01/08 or 31/08, get paid on or about the last day of next month, i.e. 30/09. They simply pay the previous month's dues all in one go.
If you invoiced on 01/09 - instead of 31/08 - and the same rule applies, you might get paid on 31/10 or 1-2 days later, depending on the bank's efficiency.
So I'd wait patiently instead of waving goodbye to nearly... And my T&C say payment at the end of following month, which they had accepted. So, 16th October (today) is 0.5 month after the due date and 1.5 months after the date of my invoice.
