Hello and welcome to ProZ.com. At this point when reading your post, I thought you'd probably fallen foul of scammers and could well be hundreds of euros out of pocket. So the fact that you didn't receive an advance payment actually cheered me up, even though there's bad news to come.
But the problem, I have already started work, and 75 percent is finished. Can I ask him to pay me for these 75 percent without making a complete translation? Because I think it's too bad, my time ..
It all depends on what the communication has been so far. I assume you can prove he gave the go-ahead for you to translate his text, for payment of nnn euros? If so, you have a contract, and as long as you deliver a fit-for-purpose translation by the deadline, he has to pay up in full. But that's the legal situation. As far as the practical situation is concerned, are you in a position to recover your money? Do you have his registered company address - or home address if it's for a private individual? If not, you may have difficulty extracting money if he's really quite unscrupulous. If you do have that information, you have to decide on two possible courses of action.
You could stop work now, deliver what you've done, and send an invoice for the relevant percentage of the total amount. But that would be quite a dodgy course of action, IMHO, as you haven't actually fulfilled the terms of the contract yourself. I don't recommend it at all. Or you could complete the translation and deliver proof a few days before the deadline, along with your invoice for 100%. Tell him you'll deliver the normal translation file the moment you receive payment. The proof can take many forms. I myself have sent work as scanned PDFs with a watermark diagonally across them. I've heard of another translator who has sent a copy of the translation with every "e" and "u" deleted! Choose a form of delivery that proves the complete translation is available but only gives the client something they can't really use without first paying to receive the normal file.
In future of course, if you feel you need to ask for payment in advance, it should be received "in advance", i.e. before you start work!

Are you a specialist in embroidery or oil well cementing? If it came through Proz on the next day after registration, it must be a scam. Bonjour, si cela devait m'arriver et que le premier paiement devait ne pas être effectué à la date limite (20 juillet donc), je refuserais tout simplement de rendre le travail terminé jusqu'à réception de la moitié due.
Comme ça, aucun risque d'arnaque.

G'day, might not be 100% relevant to your current situation, but generally, this is why I never commence with any work unless I have a carbon copy contract duly signed, mailed AND delivered to me, as simple as that. No contract - no work, period.

And I believe that this job was proposed from translators site (translation ** fe) because it is a single site that I put my profile and cv. Because until now, I always worked by the agency and never try to find the particular client by my seilf. So I was too naive ...

He/she does not need any translations. He/she needs your money, most likely through overpayment scam. Again, check Scams_Alert.
That's why I suggested that you publish the exact email. It's easily recognizable and no one will steal that "client". But since you are out of danger, no need.
