Yes, but in my case, I charge a minimum of $100.00 per job, so for me, it's worth it to invoice each project separately, because they are always at least $100.00.
Of course, I don't get offered as many small jobs, but for me, it's makes more sense to just do one small 200-word job for $100, rather than do ten 80-word jobs (800 words) for that same $100.00.

In what can only be described as a new pinnacle of absurdity, one of my clients has now begun insisting on a separate log-in/password to their invoicing system *FOR EACH LANGUAGE COMBINATION*(!), allegedly in order to "keep track of evaluation scores for each language." I have four combinations,(through three are so closely related they are essentially identical), and now have to remember four sets of log-in credentials. See more In what can only be described as a new pinnacle of absurdity, one of my clients has now begun insisting on a separate log-in/password to their invoicing system *FOR EACH LANGUAGE COMBINATION*(!), allegedly in order to "keep track of evaluation scores for each language." I have four combinations,(through three are so closely related they are essentially identical), and now have to remember four sets of log-in credentials. Of course, most browsers can only remember one set of credentials for a particular site, so I have resorted to keeping the credentials for one combination on each of 4 computers I have around the house. Now if I could only consistently remember which one was on which computer...
The sad thing is that their system used to be extremely simple and even convenient before this ridiculous change. ▲ Collapse

I do not have the time to do that. So I just refuse and agencies accept.

Send a mail to someone higher in the system and explain it from your point of view.
Threaten to give them a 3-rating on the BB and mention them on other sites as well.
It probably won't take longer than your next invoice to them! 
I sometimes do as many as 15 jobs a month for a client who makes out directly usable invoices - that is the maximum they can have on a page!
So I am quite grateful that they set up the whole lot automatically, as it really does save me time and typing.
I add my own serial number etc. and, as mentioned, the printable result is all ready for the tax authorities, should they wish to see it.
But that is also why I invoice once a month. I make out about ten or a dozen invoices every month, and about half of them are for more than one job. I do thirty or more jobs each month...
We all have to invoice, and we all have to comply with tax regulations.
So we should simply let clients know that either they must accept it our way, or it must be streamlined and simple for us.
Otherwise CHARGE FOR ADMINISTRATION one way or another!
If we behave like junior emloyees, we will get treated that way...
