Language pairs May 15, 2009

Apparently it's not a question of which language is to be translated into which language. Maybe the client has just want a version that looks like a translated version, say, processed through one of the popular translation software.

Another possibility is that the deadline is not required. And you can do it as much as you can in a day. If yes, my advice is take it.It's not bad anyway.:)

Now, this is what I am facing now in both my country and global level.

I sometimes encounter prices and some quality of translation that I feel ashamed to call myself a professional or official/sworn translator.

I sometimes feel ashamed to have chosen this as my life-long career, as I have seen many of these instances recently.

It is becoming a nightmare for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The case was not alone. May 16, 2009

I was once approached by a company in China to translate an entire book from EN to CH, and the rate they offered was US$0.0035/word. I didn't even bother to reply to them.

In another occasion, I received a proposal for "collaboration" from a translator, who proposed a rate of US$0.0025/Word. However, her sample turned out to be no better than a piece translated by a machine. In her sample, she translated "I didn't catch my train this morning" into something like "I didn't catch my t

Even the ladies in the oldest profession on earth earn more than that for a days work. "Ceks buziness: charosja buziness" as one of my friend says. Despite the crisis that "sector" is still booming as are all sectors related to basic human needs and phantasies.
