[webinar] December 9th at 11:30 GMT. For Medical and Science Translators, eCPD has arranged a great talk by well-known scientist and trainer Dr Ed Zanders on the subject of Immunology. It is a subject that crosses the boundaries of basic science, medicine and biotechnology. It attempts to answer the question of how our body can recognise and target infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses, remove them, and then ‘remember’ how to repeat the process many years later. This webinar will cover the key elements of the immune system and its normal function in clearing infections, as well as its role in the pathology of auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. It will also cover the antibodies which are central to these processes; they are also powerful tools for measuring substances with exquisite sensitivity and precision, as well as being used as biological drugs to treat disease. The jargon is inescapable, but examples will be carefully selected so as not to be overwhelming, and links to further reading and online resources will be provided.
This webinar will be recorded and a place will cost just £25
If you cannot attend the live session, don't worry. You will be able to view the recording as many times as you like afterwards. This is also the case for those who attended live but would like to review it.
