The one who appreciates my work the most and gives me the most work. But I am worried (once again!) about putting all my eggs in one basket.
The one who appreciates my work so much that he has been giving me work almost every month for the past 25 years and always pays the very next day after my invoice! That's why he is the favorite among the favorites…

A couple. Their PMs are polite and responding. They let me choose my tools. They have uncomplicated procedures. They have good proof-readers. They set generous deadlines. They give me feedback. The specialise in my favorite areas. They pay well.
The PMs are nice, friendly and always very helpful.

The one who turns out to be a Secret Millionaire and sends me a cheque for thousands of pounds for my magnificent work (I can dream!).

Based on a combination of mutual respect, good communications, flexibility re. tools (or good technical support if they work with a particular one), decent rates, reasonable payment terms and readiness to respond to terminological and other queries. Not surprisingly, they're mostly clients I've been working with for years but it's nice when new ones join the list too!
No single customer tops the table on all the key factors: paying best, being most reasonable, being most appreciative and sending the most work But I like all my customers, otherwise I wouldn't work for them

Two, in particular. I do so enjoy dealing with both of them. I believe the feeling is mutual. In a parody of John F Kennedy, though, I think it behooves us to: Ask not whether you have a favourite client, but whether your client has a favourite translator. (Edited because my fingers are cold today!)

When you have kids, you're not supposed to have a favorite, but things are different with clients. I can definitely say I have one, but no names will be mentioned, so they all think I'm referring to them

Favorite client is who prefers me to work, gives good rate and pay the work in time. Yes, I have my favorite client. He is really good for me.
One who is intelligent, friendly and chatty, doesn't crowd me with silly deadlines and treats me like a human being rather than a means to an end! Identity withheld for obvious reasons! Steve K.
