Spanish term

(El resaltado de texto es propio)

Spanish to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Hi, guys!

In documents authored by individuals, I use "My italics," "Italics are my own," or "My own italics," whichever fits best.

Now I am translating a law firm's website and there are no italics but bolded words or sentences. What's the standard in this case?

MY ATTEMPT: (Note: Text bolded for emphasis.)

Your suggestions will be welcome!

Discussion

María Eugenia Wachtendorff (asker) Jul 16, 2009:
The sentence is at the end of a 400-word footnote with loose words and whole sentences in boldface.
I think I should avoid possessives here :)

Our emphasis

Assuming it's the company that's inserted the emphasis, rather than an individual.

Bold text for emphasis/highlighted for emphasis

Maybe this? This is impersonal, passive style or you may mention who has put in the bold text or highlighted text.

Bolded sounds wierd to me Maria, I would use bold text but... I am British and we treat our language with more care and respect than Americans do :P

Was a pleasure Maria :-0))
Note from asker:
How about my own idea, "Text bolded for emphasis"? Does it sound "foreign" to you?
Noted, Eileen. Thank you very much!

Sorry, misread the question, thought you were adding the phrase as a translator's note.
Note from asker:
Can't do that, Pat. The sentence is there, and I have to translate it. I am translating website material.
I mean, why mention "original," if people will be reading my own English version?
I know, you don't need to explain!! ;o))
