Discussion

Douglas Bissell (asker) May 29, 2015:
Nick, I wasn't sure if you meant:
Stop shillyshallying about and choose, Douglas i.e I should get my finger and choose and answer, or
Stop shilly-shallying about, and choose Douglas i.e I should be the Chosen One, which I am of course, but I don't want to rub it in....
T o b i a s May 29, 2015:
Hyphenated, according to OED.

ˈshilly-ˌshallyer

[f. prec. vb. + -er1.]

One who shilly-shallies.
Nick Taylor May 29, 2015:
Stop shillshallying and choose Douglas :-) shillshallying about...
Maybe put out all stops, make an effort...
Douglas O Luciano tem razão, porque o significado normal é esse, mas aqui parece-me estar no sentido de esforçar-se, ativar-se, meter as mãos ao trabalho...

step up the rhythm

With so many days lost sparring, little time remained for debate on the constitution itself, especially after the Assembly accepted Chávez’ request to step up the rhythm and get the job done by Christmas, referendum and all.
