neutral isarcat : "Burden" carries an overly negative connotation, and bearing in view is not idiomatic. Haja vista here means "since" or "given that". :)) To your comment: Sorry, I must vehemently disagree on all counts. Vehemently :))

The negative connotation is in the whole context. Bearing in view = bearing in mind, widely used, as you may see in my examples. It's more than just "since": it emphasizes on what must be seen.
neutral Muriel Vasconcellos : "Semantic load" is a technical term that has a very specific meaning in generative morphology and semantics. It is also used in theory of markedness. Your references are not in those domains.

I added three examples. Please see wheather they are qualified to illustrate my answer. Thank you for your comment.

since it carries the semantic value [that identifies it]

..or simply, since it carries/holds the meaning/semantic value

semantic value == meaning, but you may want to stick with semantic since this seems to be a lexical text

Although the concepts of load and value (as function) are used differently in various theories and schools of linguistics (especially computational) I do tend to agree with Muriel that this text is specialized enough and is defining carga as load. Prob. talking about extra-lang. relations?

Anyway, I am leaving my answer here so you can have all the info., but I would choose Muriel's. Cheers!

neutral Muriel Vasconcellos : "Semantic value" and "semantic load" are two different concepts in linguistics.

true, especially in computational/cognitive linguistics, although the concepts are used differently depending on the theories. I do think you're right here. I think it is most likely load and not value -- I wuz sloppy :))
