Part of what they do, this profile shows, is

I don't know if they give courses within this foundation; so this may be an announcement for an exam comptetition; but it may also be the way they get clients (they do have clients, yet as they also have funds, donated by various public and private entities and schools in the Piedmont region, it's not clear whether these clients actually have to pay for the assistance received from this Foundation). So I'm caught between thinking it's an annoucement for an exam competition, and wondering whether instead it isn't perhaps an annoucement of a competition, to which prospective client companies would apply, with an idea for an innovative service, or with a simple proposal of why they need to receive support from this foundation. Perhaps it's the latter. If it is, how would I translate that?

I do agree that the theme is set by the foundation. Your option for calls for theme proposals and funding should work in my view.

As you mentioned in your kudoz question *it's not clear whether these clients actually have to pay for the assistance received from this Foundation*, I think this is the key point that needs to be better explained by the client as it is unclear so far and I understand that your whole text context doesn't help you on this issue otherwise you would have already found out the correct rendering. On the other hand, your a/m option is making me think that you do decide the clients applying are going to fund the call for theme proposals. Did I get you correct?

| Yes, though I'm trying to avoid making it sound like what needs to be proposed are themes for a project, and not the actual project itself. The theme is set by the foundation, if I'm not mistaken. I've just found in my text the phrase "bandi di finanziamento", and so I think what we have here is "calls for funding proposals". Somehow I'd like to (and ought to) work "theme" into that phrase, without making it sound like it's the applicant who's submitting a theme. Thanks for your suggestion. Perhaps "calls for theme proposals and funding" would work after all. I'm open to new suggestions, too. Thanks! |
