ENTRADAS E APERITIVOS

FVA Portuguese to English Other Cooking / Culinary Restaurant Menu Translation

Aren't they two words for the same thing?

Starters and appetizers

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : I would choose one or the other, not both.

neutral philgoddard : An aperitif is a drink, which I would expect to appear elsewhere on the menu or on a separate one. I doubt that this is the meaning.

neutral philgoddard : Fingerfood is what caterers make, but you won't see it on a restaurant menu.

An entrée (/ˈɒ̃treɪ/, US also /ɒnˈtreɪ/; French: [ɑ̃tʁe]), in modern French table service and that of much of the English-speaking world, is a dish served before the main course of a meal. Outside North America, it is generally synonymous with the terms hors d'oeuvre, appetizer, or starter. It may be the first dish served, or it may follow a soup or other small dish or dishes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entrée
