Latin term

..... humanioribus studiis philosphiae, mathematicae et eloquantiae

Latin to English Art/Literary Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
from an American degree certificate. The university's on-line translation is wrong, I'm sure. It reads: the more humane studies of philosophy, science and eloquence. It is the "humanioribus studiis: which foxes me. Humaniores studiae yields nothing on the web and the university's web-site is useless.. Thanks for any help.

Emmanuella Apr 26, 2023:
What do we have before 'humanioribus' ?
Jennifer White (asker) Apr 26, 2023:
@Emmanuella Sorry - my error, neuter noun, but problem still exists.
Emmanuella Apr 26, 2023:
For sure, you know what 'studium' means, however 'studiae' as you mentioned is wrong.
Jennifer White (asker) Apr 26, 2023:
@Emmanuella Thank you, but your link is to a French site and in any case I know what studium means.
Jennifer White (asker) Apr 25, 2023:
sorry, should be philosophiae and eloquentiae (spelling!)

Studia humaniora

The university's translation is right, albeit perhaps too literal. "Studia humaniora" in Latin refers to what we nowadays call "humanist studies" or "humanities".
Note from asker:
Thank you, yes, I considered this. I didn't think that maths was a subject usually included in humanities. But the university's "more humane" can't possibly be a correct translation, can it. I'll go with your suggestion. Thanks again. J.
