Court case about telescopic forklifts.
chariot téléscopique is "telescopic forklift"
vérin d'inclinaison is "tilt cylinder"
There's a diagram in French here showing what part the tablier is : https://www.systemed.fr/materiel-d-atelier-protection/chario...
I think it might be "apron" or "fork attachment" possibly.

Load Backrest
Based entirely on the first reference I found, but the passage with the picture is hard to find so...
Load Backrest
The load backrest is a very important part of any forklift. It is attached to the forklift carriage and is responsible for restraining the load when the load is tilted rearward or upward. The forklift’s backrest also aids in protecting the mast and the cylinder hoses.

: The load backrest prevents items from sliding, but everything is still attached to the carriage. See: https://www.gwequip.com/anatomy-of-a-forklift-truck/#:~:text...

Note that the hydraulic cylinder would be attached to the carriage, which is designed to withstand the forces involved in raising/tilting the forks/load, and never to the backrest which is a lightweight structure designed only to stop the load from sliding off the forks..

Note from asker:
Thanks, yes, I don't think "telescopic forklift" really conveys what they are... and didn't really find what the "most common" name in En might be. They look fantastic fun to use though, amazing, if you have loads of things to shift. Balance must be quite an issue, but I suppose there must be some nice electronics to keep within safe parameters. "Telescopic handler" it is. |
Discussion
Backrest would be "dosseret d'appui/de protection", it's usually an accessory as some are removable.
