implementation of the mesocosm

I'd never heard of a mesocosmos but it's quite easy to find:

"A mesocosm (meso- or 'medium' and -cosm 'world') is any outdoor experimental system that examines the natural environment under controlled conditions. In this way mesocosm studies provide a link between field surveys and highly controlled laboratory experiments.
Mesocosms also tend to be medium-sized to large (e.g., aquatic mesocosm range: 1 to > 10,000 L) and contain multiple trophic levels of interacting organisms. "

There are other ways of expressing it. In context, you might translate "Teniendo en cuenta que [...] y que el despliegue del mesocosmos se propone en un espacio protegido" as "Taking into account that [...] and the proposal to set up the mesocosm in a protected area".

Of install, as Neil suggests.
Note from asker:
Thanks Charles, yes I found it too though had never heard of it but wasn't sure about the despliego part but thank you!
Peer comment(s):

agree Marie Wilson : I found deployment too, but I was trying to work out if that was just used in translations.

Thanks, Marie :-) No, I think it's used in real life too, but perhaps we resort to it a bit too often when we have to translate "despliegue". I wouldn't rule it out here, though.
agree neilmac : Installation/installing might work too....

Good idea. Cheers, Neil :-)
agree Elizabeth Joy Pitt de Morales : My first thought was "deployment", but then I thought it was too literal... but I think I actually prefer "set up".

Thanks, Liz :-) I think I do too. I must confess that I didn't think about "despliegue" enough before answering; I was concentrating too much on mesocosm, and the seductive appeal of a new word.

deployment of mesocosm

Both "deploy" and "deployment" are used in various texts about mesocosm, see references. I think it fits better than "implementation"
Example sentence:

before and after deployment at the reference site to measure metal deposition

tools used within this mesocosm experiment will potentially be deployed
