English term

tenting bar

English to French Law/Patents Engineering (general) medical drape
As patients are generally awake for peripherally inserted central catheter procedures, one or more embodiments described below provide a full,
clear panel in the top portion covering the patient’s face so the patient does not feel “enclosed.” This is in contrast to conventional drapes, which are fully opaque. In one embodiment, to provide additional patient comfort, a tenting bar is incorporated into the clear panel. The tenting bar allows the medical personnel to fashion the bar so as to retain the clear panel away from portions of the patient’s face, thereby allowing easier breathing and reduced stress.

In one embodiment, the tenting bar 103 is manufactured from a flexible or bendable material. Soft aluminum, copper, alloy, or other materials can be used to form the tenting bar 103. When the tenting bar 103 is configured from a bendable material, medical personnel can tailor the tenting bar 103 for maximum separation between the patient’s face and the upper portion 101, or for maximum patient comfort, once the medical drape 100 has been placed over the patient.

Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Yes, it seems to be something along the lines of an 'arceau' on a lorry, for example. Obviously not as hefty as some kinds of 'bar' might be, and more of a 'tige', really, in order to create a tent-effect.
