French term

remaniée (aortic valve)

French to English Medical Medical (general)
Oreillette gauche légèrement dilaté. Pas d’élévation des pressions de remplissage. Valve aortique ***remaniée***, sans fuite ni sténose.

I suppose this means that the aortic valve is opening and closing as it should... but how does one say so in medical gobbledeegook? I have to admit that I am stuck on "fuite" as well - does one say "leak", in this context?

Thank you!

Discussion

Daryo Jun 29, 2012:
the aortic valve is opening and closing as it should ("sans fuite"), despite some unhealthy alteration/changes to its tissue ("remaniée")
SJLD Jun 29, 2012:
fuite vs sténose - two usual possibilities for a defective valve are regurgitation/incompetence or stenosis
SJLD Jun 29, 2012:
I suppose this means that the aortic valve is opening and closing as it should.

No it doesn't. See the definition of "remanier" and "remaniement"

After a this kind of "remaniement" (not exactely a "remaniement ministériel") we would be presented with a "Valve aortique remaniée" wouldn't we?

"l’épaississement, les rétractions du bord libre des sigmoïdes" looks like a tissue in a pretty bad shape?
Peer comment(s):

disagree liz askew : this is not the meaning of "remanier"/Still incorrect.

look again (or maybe look to start with) at various sources on this subject. Here "remaniée" is used _in a medical context_ which usually means that general purpose dictionaries are as much useful as for translating maths or theology.
