Hello everyone,

do you know any method to convert a XLIFF or a TTX to two separate files: source and target? Particularily, I need it converted into two txt files to be able to feed them into my corpora software.

Is something like that possible?

Apsic Xbench Jan 3, 2012

You can import files in either format to Xbench, and then use Export Items to export them to either TMX or tab delimited text (which is what you need). This text file can be opened in Excel, and from there you can copy and paste both columns to the respective source and target files.

Swordfish Jan 3, 2012

Hi,

You can use Swordfish to export source and target from an XLIFF document to separate text files. Use these options from File menu:

- Export Sources as Plain Text
- Export Targets as Plain Text

Rodolfo

Okapi Rainbow Jan 3, 2012

You can use Rainbow (open-source) to do this:

- drop your TTX or XLIFF document(s) in "Input List 1"
- Select "Utilities > Conversion Utilities > File Format Conversion"
- Select "Parallel Corpus Files" for the output format
- Enter the output path as needed (if you have several input files you can output the source/target of all of them in a single file, or have a pair of output file for each input file)
- Click Execute

cheers,
-ys

I managed to get my results using Swordfish, may try the other methods as well. Thanks for all the answers!
