I am the programmer of a software developped in shockwave. Is it possible to localize it ? Is it possible to translate director files (what are the sofwares able to do it). Are there online possibilities ? ASP companys (application service provider), online oriented services ?

Thank you !

Hi Alienbob

I used to do quite a bit of director/shockwave programming, and most of the projects I worked on needed to be localized into several langauges. After localizing a couple of projects with painstaking cut-and-paste, I wrote a small program which extracts all text members to an external file (access database). Hi Alienbob

I used to do quite a bit of director/shockwave programming, and most of the projects I worked on needed to be localized into several langauges. After localizing a couple of projects with painstaking cut-and-paste, I wrote a small program which extracts all text members to an external file (access database). We'd give these to the translators who would translate the appropriate column. Then, I'd run it back through the program and voila, the project was localized (depending on the language, we did generally need to do some reformatting, but that was minor). I wrote an article about this at the time - you can check it out at:

There are also a few example files (access-97 database, director file...). The method requires the DataGrip Xtra (it's been a while, so I don't know if it's still available.) I believe we were working with Director 7 and 8, so I don't know if this will work with the current director version.

Good luck, eh
Chris
